"The best therapist is someone who can be thoroughly objective with you, someone who has no personal investment in your success or failure. Your partner obviously has great personal investment in your success because he or she is depending upon your success and must learn to offset the possibility of your failure. That places them in a very difficult position to be an objective listener. That is why you cannot require objectivity from your partner, because they are depending upon your success."[1]
