Quotes about ideology
Reality is necessity not theoretical or ideological
"Now you must move to a world community. This is not based upon ideology. This is not based upon theory or social science. This is based upon necessity, for the world’s resources are diminishing, and the world’s climate is changing". [1]
Reality requires sustainable future not dependent on unlimited resources
“The emphasis in the world is still on growth, on expansion. Whole economic systems are based upon growth and access to ever-greater amounts of resources. This cannot continue. That is why the change at hand is so monumental, so fundamental and far-reaching.” This strikes me as a fundamental need of humanity to shift our focus to sustainability. Raised with a mindset of unlimited resources, this is difficult for many. Everything taught in our schools, every potential solution to world crisis, poverty especially, was to be solved by utilizing the seemingly boundless resources surrounding less developed countries. But instead these resources were used for a certain class of citizenry in the strongest nation to enrich themselves, while leaving the natives worse off. This is well documented. Also, I have seen this in action in the world and it is a great tragedy. If we’d had a more healthy, sustainable outlook, which is slowly being adopted in progressive communities, decades earlier, we’d not be in quite such bad shape."[2]
