Impatience
- "Everyone seems to have difficulty learning patience.
- This is because people are living without Knowledge.
- They are trying to establish their goals in life without Knowledge.
- They are trying to establish their primary relationships without Knowledge.
- They are even trying to be at peace without Knowledge.
- Thus they are at the mercy of the machinations and the conflicts of the mind.
- And they are at the mercy of the conflicting forces that exist within the mental environment and the physical environment.
- Thus things seem continually unstable and out of harmony.
- Great effort is exerted in building things that can fall apart in a moment, things that have no stability or permanence." [1]
"It is only when people are ambitious and impatient, when they seek to have the great rewards now instead of later, that they get into serious trouble." [2]
"You cannot help people if you attack them. You cannot help them if you are horrified by them, disappointed by them, frustrated by them, hostile towards them, angry with them or impatient with them."[3]
"Impatience means you are trying to operate without Knowledge. Impatience means you do not trust life or yourself and are rushing ahead to secure a position for yourself."[4]
Directives
"Do not let impatience or compulsion drive you."[5]
Impatience in establishing relationships
"People are impatient. They want companionship now. They want sexual fulfillment now. They want to fulfill the expectations of society by having families now. They are unwilling to wait. They are afraid if they wait, then the rendezvous will never happen. So people act prematurely. They marry before they are ready. They have children before they are ready. They commit their lives to careers before they are ready. The time they have earlier in life to explore and to experience the deeper current of their life is often lost to other pursuits, overlaid by other ambitions or cut short altogether by the demands and expectations of others, and by their own impatience."[6]
Following The Way of Knowledge
"Your task is to follow the emergence of Knowledge within yourself, to be true to that, to be the recipient, to pull yourself in, to take the time it takes for a great emergence to happen within you. And do not be impatient, for it will emerge in its own time."[7]
"You have only to be patient and take the steps to Knowledge to allow the pieces of the puzzle to come together, as they most surely will. Yet if you are reckless and impatient and try to fill in all of the spaces yourself, you will not see the picture that is waiting for you to discover."[8]
"Be patient and you will learn. Be impatient and you will pay. Either way you will learn, but the price of learning will be far greater if you are impatient. You will always pay something for your learning, but what you pay must be part of the benefit you receive from the lesson itself."[9]
"To reach this awareness and the strength of this reality requires a tremendous commitment and preparation. You cannot be halfhearted in this matter. You cannot be impatient or manipulative or driven by your preferences, or you will not even be able to begin. You will be cast aside at the first challenge or impediment, the first discouragement, when you find out the people around you that you thought were so friendly and close to you really have no clue or have no interest in these matters and will turn against you should you proclaim yourself."[10]
"The impatient, the ambitious, the zealous and the fanatical cannot travel this way, for they cannot abide with a greater journey. They cannot be without definitions or explanations because they are too unstable to do so."[11]
"Take the slow and careful path of learning. Many have failed in attempting to learn greater Knowledge and Wisdom. In the attempt to learn Greater Community Knowledge and Wisdom, many will fail as well. They will fail because of their impatience. They will fail because of their ambitions. They will fail because of their unwillingness to learn the essential lessons and to integrate themselves correctly and appropriately according to their nature and to the greater truth which they are attempting to realize and to express."[12]
"Because the preparation is so great and requires so much time and patience, we encourage you to go slowly and consistently. We encourage you to practice daily but without a sense of urgency or impatience. There are many things you must learn the first year. There are many things you must learn the next year, the year after and the year after that. You cannot see what is up ahead for you to learn."[13]
"The greater your power and awareness, the more careful you must be where it is revealed and with whom it is shared and the more discerning you must be in choosing the beneficiaries of your gift. This tempers all ambition. This tempers all impatience. This tempers all self-assertions that are not born of Knowledge."[14]
"Avoid impatience. Everyone is impatient when they begin. Everyone wants tremendous results with a minimal investment. Everyone wants a bargain from life where they have to give very little and get a great deal. Everyone wants to be comfortable and yet have all the rewards of an inspired life. Learn patience. You do not yet know what has to be unlearned and what has to be learned. You do not yet know how great the mountain is because when you are on the mountain, you can rarely see the summit. In fact, when you are on the mountain, you do not even know what it looks like as a whole. You just keep climbing. You keep going. You follow Knowledge.""[15]
