How to format category footer

PROBLEM I format the category footer but it doesn't show up in preview.
That is correct; it will appear on the page after saving. In preview, it is visible at the very bottom of your screen, not on the previewed page.
PROBLEM No banner forms, just the brackets around the category
word.
The footer must begin the line with no spaces or characters before it.
PROBLEM The category text is red, not blue.
If an extant category, check your spelling and capitalization against the list of all categories below.
If it doesn't exist, the page for that category must be created. Click on the red category text and open up for editing. Add descriptive text about the category ("This category includes pages on ....")
What if a page can be assigned more than one category?
Set up the standard category footer for each; the result will group them together as categories:a|b.
Is it case sensitive?
Yes, except for initial letters: the "c" in "category" and the first letter after the colon
I don't want to duplicate a category that already exists. Where can I find all categories?
Here (add 'em as you find 'em)
Category:The future world
Category:God
Category:The Great Waves of change
Category:The Greater Community
Category:Higher purpose
Category:The Intervention
Category:Mental environment
Category:The Messenger
Category:Practice
Category:Relationship
Category:Sacred Texts
Category:Support
Category:The Four Pillars/Health
Category:The Four Pillars/Work
